Governor Mark Gordon has issued a statement in response to the Biden Administration's announcement that it would be enacting new methane regulations for the oil and gas industries through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Governor Gordon says, "EPA's latest announcement to regulate methane for new infrastructure and existing facilities adds yet another level of uncertainty to the operations of Wyoming’s oil and gas industry. This is happening just as our industry moves onto more solid footing, with increasing rig counts and the return of jobs in this sector.

Advanced Resources International has published the U.S. CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery Survey for end-of-year 2020.
The Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute’s Acting Director, Lon Whitman, is a contributor to an important and anticipated publication of the U.S. CO2 Enhanced Oil Recovery Survey.
The purpose of this updated survey is to provide a comprehensive status report of the 142 active CO2-EOR projects in the U.S., including enhanced production totals, reservoir characteristics, and other project parameters.
Throughout a challenging year, incremental oil production from CO2-EOR declined about 8% to 273,000 barrels per day -- this total is on par with the overall decline in U.S. crude oil production in 2020.

ExxonMobil has initiated plans to expand carbon capture and storage capabilities (CCS) at its LaBarge natural gas field at the cost of $400 million to capture 1 million tons/year.
Natural gas from LaBarge contains a large CO2 component – about 65% – with methane (21%), nitrogen (7%), H2S (5%) and helium (0.6%) making up the remainder of the gas stream processed at ExxonMobil’s Shute Creek treating facility. Various CCS expansions at the facility since the field began producing in 1986 have increased CO2 capture to as much as 7mn mt/yr, most of which is used in enhanced oil recovery operations.
