EORI Works with Wyoming Producers to Increase Oil and Gas Production
How We Help
Wyoming Reservoir Experts
Specialized knowledge of Wyoming geology and petroleum engineering including geologic and reservoir studies, characterization and simulation focused to develop effective and efficient EOR and IOR methods to improve recovery rates.
Project Partnerships and Technology Transfer
Through partnerships and technology transfer, EORI helps drive innovation and improves efficiency and effectiveness by transferring knowledge and expertise to Wyoming industry partners.
Collaborative Research
Wyoming oil and gas producers can tap into the capabilities of EORI’s researchers, geologists, scientists, and engineers through collaborative research projects.
We are the Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute (EORI)
The Mission and focus of EORI is to facilitate meaningful, measurable, and economically viable solutions to increase recoverable reserves and production of oil and natural gas in Wyoming that may otherwise not be realized.
Key to this is the effective and efficient transfer of relevant new technology, information and expert knowledge to Wyoming oil and gas producers.
We are here to assist Wyoming oil & gas producers through education, research, outreach and cooperative projects.

Lon Whitman
“We are here to assist Wyoming Oil and Gas Producers with minimizing stranded reserves and increasing production through education, analysis, and leveraging evolving hydrocarbon extraction technologies.”

Lon Whitman, 2023 – EORI Director

Parke Dickey
“We usually find oil in a new place with an old idea. Sometimes also, we find oil in an old place with a new idea, but we seldom find much oil in an old place with an old idea. Several times in the past we have thought that we were running out of oil, whereas actually we were only running out of ideas.”

Parke A. Dickey, 1958 – Geologist

Vickie Stamp
“Having EORI involved brings a lot of technology to bare that we would not otherwise have.”

Vickie Stamp, 2018 - retired Petroleum Engineer, TAB member

Lon Whitman, 2018
“The EORI is a state funded institute dedicated to working with Wyoming Operators”

Lon Whitman, 2018 – Director EORI

Stephen T. Whitaker
“Wyoming is an old place, and we will not find much more oil using old ideas.  We need new ideas, talent, and experience to know which ideas are worth proposing. I think the EORI has the expertise and experience to supply some of those new ideas, and as a result we can have significant impact on improving oil production within the state.”

Stephen T. Whitaker, 2023 – EORI Senior Geologist
