Enhanced Oil Recovery Insights: IOR/EOR Potential at Black Bank Field (Muddy)
EORI is hosting a new Enhanced Oil Recovery Insights event "An Integrated Approach to Reservoir Characterization for IOR/EOR Potential at Black Bank Field (Muddy)" from 8:00 – 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026 at the True River Cross Commons.
Don't miss out on this chance to connect with industry leaders and peers.
Black Bank Field, located in the northernmost Wyoming, is at its economic limit unless adequate IOR/EOR methods can be implemented. Detailed subsurface mapping of the Muddy reservoir using sequence stratigraphic principles together with detailed core analyses and brine compatibility studies are helping to determine options for further actions. Finally, reservoir modeling and simulation are providing some insights into expected outcomes of various EOR strategies.
Presenters:

Dr. Maziar Arshadi
Executive Vice President, Piri Technologies
Dr. Maziar Arshadi is the Executive Vice President at Piri Technologies, where he supports the company’s day-to-day operations and business activities. He earned his Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Wyoming and has over 14 years of experience in both technical and leadership roles. His work focuses on subsurface characterization and engineering, particularly multiphase flow and storage in complex geosystems, with applications in oil recovery and CO₂ sequestration.

Joe Corning
Energy Professional, MT/WY Oil
Joe Corning is an energy professional with MT/WY Oil focused on transitional energy project development, enhanced oil recovery, and brownfield renewables.

Steve Whitaker
Geologist
Steve Whitaker is a highly experienced geologist who has worked with both major and independent oil companies involving numerous aspects of the oil industry. His work has included: mapping of subsurface and surface geology, detailed prospect generation in clastic, carbonate, and unconventional reservoirs, petroleum engineering, geophysics, computer-enhanced mapping (Petra, GeoGraphix), reservoir characterization, development geology, waterflood optimization, chemical EOR design and implementation, acreage acquisition, business management, project economics/risk analysis, and operations. He ran his own oil company for 16 years, which conducted exploration and EOR/IOR programs. He has authored several publications related to oil exploration and development and has received awards for his presentations at regional, national, and international technical conferences.
