Enhanced Oil Recovery Insights: Practical Conventional Well Log Interpretation

Enhanced Oil Recovery Insights

Topic: Enhanced Oil Recovery Insights: Practical Conventional Well Log Interpretation

This class is designed as a review of conventional well log analysis from a practical point of view. It will primarily take a look at resistivity and porosity logs as they pertain to obtaining water saturation, but will also look at logs such as the gamma ray, spectral gamma ray, microlog, imaging, and photoelectric log as a way to get a feel for lithology and mineralogy and permeability. The class aims to help engineers and geologists determine the best suite of logs to run on a new well, and to evaluate whether to run pipe and what interval to complete. Examples and problems will be presented to help cement the concepts into the attendee’s minds.

The two-day course will be presented by Leo A. Giangiacomo, P.E. Mr. Giangiacomo has been working with well logs for 46 years in the Gulf Coast, Rocky Mountains, Midcontinent, North Dakota, Permian, and Central Asia. He has experience in running them on new wells, as well as using a combination of new and old logs for field redevelopments.
