Governor Gordon’s Opening Address

Governor Gordon reaffirmed his support for Wyoming’s energy industries and continues to advocate for the development of carbon capture, utilization and storage technologies (CCUS).

Governor Gordon expects ongoing support from the Department of Energy for coal capture technologies for coal-fired power plants.  Retrofitting Wyoming’s existing power plants with carbon capture technologies could boost employment as well as reduce CO2 emissions.

In December of 2020, congress passed the $900 billion coronavirus relief bill that included tax credit extensions and a new commitment to research technologies to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.

“Wyoming has responsibly led the way for a new energy horizon, one which values all sources of energy from nuclear, oil, gas and coal to renewables like wind and solar,” Governor Gordon said.
